Publications and Graphics is housed under BYU’s Advancement division. Other groups in this division include University Communications, Athletics, BYU Broadcasting, and Alumni Relations. The publications we produce are all for campus clients and are printed by Print and Mail Production Center (PMPC), also sometimes called Print Services, personnel on the presses on the northwest side of the building. P&G produces approximately 400 publications a year. Many of these publications win national, regional, and state awards for their high-quality and innovative writing and design. As you walk through the halls of Publications and Graphics, you'll see some of the award-winning publications hung on display.
P&G is divided into four groups, which all have a lot of overlap: BYU Magazine editors, generalist editors, designers/photographers, and administrative staff:

You will be primarily assisting the editors/writers, who edit all publications that go through the P&G shop except BYU Magazine.

This is BYU's main publication, and it is sent to hundreds of thousands of recipients several times a year. It has its own staff and interns, but in busier times you might be asked to help out with assignments here and there. Magazine staff also populate BYU Today, a monthly alumni e-newsletter with recent BYU news and items of interest.
BYU Speeches

The bulk of your time will be spent helping copyedit, proofread, and fact and reference check Tuesday morning devotionals for posting on speeches.byu.edu and in the annual Speeches compilation. (As a general rule, we don’t publish forums, although there are occasionally exceptions.) Often you will visit the library to obtain original source material and scour the Internet looking for clues to proper documentation (see Speeches editing procedures).
Wheatley Institution lectures

Named for Jack and Mary Lois Wheatley, the Wheatley Institution sponsors periodical lectures given at BYU by eminent scholars from all over the nation. These are edited by us and printed up as pamphlets.

This is the J. Reuben Clark Law School’s award-winning alumni magazine—it comes out twice a year, in the spring and fall. Joyce may have you do second reads of the final proofs right before it goes to press. Joyce also edits other publications generated by the Law School.
Annual University Conference materials

Annual University Conference, a series of meetings for all university personnel, is typically held during the week before fall semester begins. The main event of the conference is an address by President Cecil O. Samuelson in the Marriott Center to all full-time BYU employees. P&G edits and designs the program for this event.
McKay Today

Produced three times annually, this is the David O. McKay School of Education’s alumni magazine.
President’s Report and Presidents' Report

President's Report—note the 's ending—is sent out in President Samuelson’s name to major donors. It reports on happenings at BYU. BYU–Hawaii's Presidents' Report—note the s' ending—comes from BYU–Hawaii President Steven C. Wheelwright and Polynesian Cultural Center President Von D. Orgill.
Commencement and convocation publications

BYU holds two graduation ceremonies a year: in April and August. Commencement refers to the main graduation ceremony in the Marriot Center; convocation refers to the individual ceremonies held by each college. See Commencement procdeures.

Healer’s Art

This is the College of Nursing’s alumni magazine, published once annually. Natalie occasionally writes feature articles for this publication and may use your help in gathering background information.
Other regular jobs at P&G include athletics, recruitment, and admissions materials, as well as many other one-time projects from various departments that are assigned to editors on a "who's available" basis.
